Mission Brief: Matthew 28:19-20

On a cold Tuesday morning in 2006, a small cluster of committed Christians braved the weather to travel to a distant location to share Jesus with the natives. The venue for this expedition… Dapto High School.

This band of brothers (and sisters) huddled together to assess their rations & equipment. One projector, one laptop, a dodgy school sound system, one toasted sandwich and a Bible. The unit realised they needed more than this in a hostile environment and so they prayed for God’s strength. And God’s strength they needed as the first tribe to come in was Year 7.

Andy Stevenson stood in front of the crowd and boldly shared the message of Jesus being the light in our dark world. The team then played games, ran discussion groups and showed different forms of media to connect with the inhabitants of this strange land called High School.

The day continued with over 400 students in Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 each hearing the message of Jesus in their own tongue. Each tribe was different… asking different questions that were relevant to them, varied levels of participation and diverse responses to the Bible.

At the end of the day, the small cluster felt an overwhelming level of patriotism to their Commander in Chief – God and thanked Him for the privilege of sharing His word.
