Just a Walk Across the…
Last year, over 14% of Australians who filled in the Census nominated “No Religion” as their preference (up over 2.2%). Meanwhile 17% of the population indicated “Anglican” (down 2.2%). Further research has indicated that around 65% of the population would rarely consider attending a church and are not aware of even knowing a person who currently goes to any church!
The challenge of being a “kingdom of priests”, a people belonging to God and introducing others to our Lord and Saviour, is becoming harder and more urgent! At the same time the best approach is relational, natural and trumpeted by our loving lifestyle. We don’t need more programs, we need Christians who use their networks and opportunities to simply be friendly, caring and intentionally Christian.
Each of us need to “Just walk across the …… room, road, shopping aisle, backyard, office, factory, lecture theatre, gym, sporting field…. and say “hello”. We should work out random acts of kindness (things like baking a few extra biscuits and giving them to a neighbour or bringing their bins in for them or ???). We should work out some non-threatening ways of building friendships (build on your interests by inviting a neighbour to join you—playing cards, going to a movie, sharing a coffee or a meal, going on a walk or a fishing trip or ????)
Today we are giving you our new Dapto Anglican Church brochure.
IT IS FOR YOU TO GIVE AWAY!
We challenge each of you to be alert to the new people who move into your street and go and say “hello” soon after they move in. Take the brochure and give them an invite to our church “if they are interested”.
- We are asking you to tell us your ideas of how you “Just Walk Across the Room/Road” etc.
- Today, please fill in the slip included in this bulletin & give it to the service leader or place in the offertory plate. [Or Leave a Reply - Phil B]
- Next week we will publish a list of ideas & simple ways that you use when “Walking across the…”

Ethan’s Operation
Hello everyone
I hope you are going well.
In 2006 Ethan had an operation to remove his adenoids and to have grommets inserted.
Both his ears are fully blocked with wax now. Ethan could not stay still for our Doctor to remove the wax, and as the grommets may still be in place, he said he would not recommend using wax softening drops as the drops could cause middle ear infections.
So Ethan is going to have an operation tomorrow to remove the wax and check the position of the grommets. This requires a general anaesthetic. The op is at 8am Singapore time (12 noon East Coast Oz time).
It is a very simple and quick operation.
For those who pray, please pray for Ethan, for a successful op, wisdom and skill for Dr Lim who is doing the op, and strength to trust our awesome God.
Our Doctor is very professional and the hospital looks fantastic, Dr Lim and this Hospital are highly recommended by medical people in our company here.
Below is a link to the hospital, it is impressive.

Charles’ Update – July 2007
Dear Friends,
Thank you for praying, especially for our housing situation. The Lord did indeed soften the hearts of those responsible: we were told that we almost didn’t get the flat we were looking at, and the thing that swayed them was the fact that we are professionals. Architecture and Physiotherapy are viewed more highly than working for the Church it seems! In the end God’s timing was perfect. We will be moving next week. Thanks again for praying.
Please continue to pray for Danilo and his family. The latest news is that his cancer has spread to his lymph system, and he is about to undergo surgery, followed by radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The doctors are not greatly confident, but say that without treatment he only has a matter of months to live. Pray that God would be glorified through this and that He may see fit to heal Danilo.
M Charles
