Preparing for the Future.

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The new driveway was the start of the changes at the Ministry Centre in readiness for builders to tender. The St. Aidan’s bus bay should happen in the next few weeks. The Children’s and Youth Ministries have worked hard on their part of our Church’s Vision.

Painting the WallPainting the WallUnder God, 2008 is the year Children & Youth Ministries will be especially gathering young people into the Kingdom. The existing stage and auditorium is their dedicated space for the future. The stage wall now reflects our church’s commitment to the young people of the Illawarra. Parish Council approved the change as the next step in our building process.

The art captures their vision to be Christ-centred and working together to transform young lives.

The 150 year celebration quilts will be displayed at St. Luke’s and St. Aidan’s during the construction period at the Ministry Centre.

True Godliness Can Be Seen!

Friday, January 18th, 2008

Our world is looking for authenticity.
People are looking for answers that work.

Paul’s book of Romans is a great manifesto of Christianity. He outlines the gospel of salvation, our need for forgiveness and the fact that for those in Christ there is no condemnation.

By Romans 12-13 Paul encourages Christians to live decently. Our actions are the test of the sincerity of our faith.

Therefore we are to be a people who:

Set aside the “deeds of darkness”
Put on the “armour of light”.
We need to repent our wrongs
We should not be surprised when there are consequences for our actions.
We should show mercy and give to those who repent

In essence “we clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ”

Mary and Friends

Ministry activities at DAC for 2008 are well underway and its only the 13th of January!!

Our children’s ministry have kicked off the year with their annual D2ers Camp. There were more than 50 kids and 20 leaders and parent helpers staying at Austinmere Anglican and having a “great time”.

Mary Pickford enthused (looking just a little bit tired) “what a great way to start the year – in the bible and with all the children!”.

Let’s thank God for the wonderful time of learning and fellowship for all the kids, leaders and helpers.

Happy Holy-Days

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

It might surprise you to learn that in the six weeks leading up to Christmas, Australians spent a record of $36.5 billion in the shops, or over $1700 per head! This is surely unprecedented generosity!
Yet we feel a bit sad that many people missed the point this year. The thing missing from their holidays is God.

The word holiday is from two words, holy and day, joined together. Holidays are meant to be holy-days.

Comedian Henny Youngman, referring to the original meaning of the term quipped, “I was an atheist for a while, but I gave it up. No holidays!”

Christians set aside these days, not only to rest, but especially to enjoy God’s creation and his presence.

We hope these holy-days you will enjoy having a break, and maybe even share gifts with those you love. But spare a thought for the most generous giver of all. Jesus has made it possible for us to know the holy God. He paid that price for us, so that every day can truly be a holy-day.
