Things You Could Do With String

Friday, April 25th, 2008

String
Whether you use a piece of string or whether you remember in some other way . . . Remember and fight for the important things.

This week we honour the ANZACs and other service men and women who helped to guard the things we hold precious.

Every week we give thanks to Jesus who also laid down his life for us. Which raises an interesting question …

What do you care about that much?
There’s an expression, “Fight the good fight of the faith” (1 Tim 6:12)

What would you fight for?
It takes guts to be a Christian.
Christians forgive. Christians love.
Christians are persecuted.
Christians testify.
Christians live life to the full.

We start our new series today and look at a particular Christian man who was tied up, bound, and transported under guard from Jerusalem to Rome. What did he care so much about and what was he fighting for?

Bearing the fruit of the Kingdom!

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Bottle Rocket Mark 11 tells the story of Jesus’ great anger at the neglect of the Jews to lead the nations in the worship of the Lord, by abusing the temple court.

Whilst our church building is certainly no temple, it has been great to be joined this week by so many visitors, as the Holiday Club ‘Power Lab’ ran for kids.

With 129 children on Wednesday and 129 children on Thursday then 124 on Friday, the team had a great ministry in introducing children and their families to the true temple – the Lord Jesus; where God and man come together!

Let’s continue together, to be a people of God, who know what it is to bear Kingdom fruit in all seasons!

Pray, Connect, Expect

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Connect09 Cover In early November a young Church Leader from Sydney, came up to me and asked did I recognise him? Those questions are usually uncomfortable. He looked somewhat familiar and he mercifully identified himself as a member of the youth group I led in 1989. He was now training for full time mission work and he encouraged me by explaining how 1989 had been a real turning point in his life.

God is at work in our world, turning lives around and providing the only real future.

Our Archbishop has called upon us to join all the other Anglican Churches of the Diocese. He is challenging us to intentionally connect with our neighbours and communities. He is challenging us to be Christ’s representatives in whatever context God places us.

This challenge is focused towards 2009 but he invites us to start today!
The first step is to pray.

We have enclosed a prayer card for you to fill out and use over the next 2 years. As we pray and connect, we can expect our great God to work.

A Stamp Of Approval

Friday, April 4th, 2008

On Monday night the report of the Diocese’s Mission Property Committee was endorsed by the Archbishop’s Mission Board. This report identified parish projects that were likely to lead to a rapid increase in the number of people attending churches in the Diocese.

The criteria used in assessing growth included; church attendances, the current life cycle of the church, the population changes in the parish, the ministry growth strategy of the church, the utilization of existing buildings, the leadership of the parish and the training and sending of people into ministry by the parishes.

Our Parish was assessed as being in the highest priority grouping in the Dioceses. The high priority projects will receive significant financial help and encouragement. We will publish the detailed amount that is available to Dapto and how this will affect our building fund next week.

Please offer your thanks to God, as He answered the prayers offered at our Annual Meeting and that of many of our church members.
