Every now and then we have flashbacks to significant moments in our life! I occasionally remember a character from a poem I heard when I was 16. The character was J Alfred Prufrock and the flash was that hh was a sad man who “measured out his life in teaspoons”. I remember sitting in my English class determined that my life would never sink to such hopelessness.
The answer was not “within me”. The answer was coming to know Jesus as the key person of history. The man who offered hope, forgiveness, a new start and an eternal purpose. Prayer is the opportunity He gives us all to stay focused on hope.
Really talking to God means we can “Go where we could never go by ourselves”. This week we look to God to help us pray “more than ever before”.
We look to embrace the promise of Luke 11 that God will answer us “More than we ever can imagine”. In the end the prayer is that we will see God act in our world “More than ever before”!

The formal week of prayer is an excellent opportunity to call upon God, both in thanksgiving and in bringing our concerns and cares to Him. Whilst prayer is of course a normal part of Christian life, the week of prayer presents a great opportunity for us to focus our attention on speaking to God.

During the last 2 weeks Julie Irving, our Preschool Director, has been co-ordinating with Lyndall Bailey to achieve some great partnerships and improvements in the Preschool. Since we have decided to keep the Centre, necessary long term maintenance issues needed to be addressed. Parents, Contractors, Parishioners and staff, all got involved. The value of the work is much greater than the dollars expended!
Next Sunday, there will be an open day for parishioners to walk through and see the transformation that has occurred.
Over the last 6 months our Youth Musical Team have been preparing the show they performed over the last 3 nights. The cohesion, team spirit and enjoyment they conveyed in their wonderful performance gave great testimony to the God they serve. It was inspiring to see our Young people work together so well!
