Prayer works… Because God is God
Many of us have taken the opportunity to increase our prayers this week. One of our members was praying for a situation on Monday morning and she saw God answer her prayer before lunch. Prayer works because our great God is the one who promises to hear and act. He acts for our benefit and the benefit of His kingdom and so His answers aren’t an automatic “yes”. But when we see Him work, it’s marvelous to realize we were praying in line with our Creator’s will and plan for His world and our life.
Many of us took the opportunity to reflect on the Psalms set for this week. For some of the great Psalms we can see how prayer works at a very deep and profound level. As the Psalmist declares the truths about God and as he remembers God’s qualities you can see his attitude change. The Psalmist often moves from pain and despair to confidence and joy.
Prayer works because it is our opportunity to engage directly with God. He will never leave us the same.
