A report in the New York Times has shown that in a time of rapid change, procrastination is becoming a major problem in society.  People seen to be getting keener to put off to tomorrow things we really should do today.

The survey discovered that the most significant reason for procrastination was unrealistically high expectations of themselves and the fear they would not measure up.

As we reflect on the incident between David and Goliath, we see the whole nation of Israel procrastinating when Goliath challenged them to select a fighter to face him.  David actually did not “measure up”.  From a human perspective he did not have a chance.  Yet he stood up!

What made the difference?  God!  David was the man chosen by God.  David was the man empowered by God.  Dave rescued Israel because God was the one realising expectations.
