BRING IT ON! The 120 Day Commitment

Jim Bailey, Churchwarden

During Stephen’s sermon “Bring It On —  the 120 Day Commitment” that he gave in early July, he challenged us to tithe during the next 120 days (4th July to 1st November), a challenge that, if taken up, will change lives, both ours and people in Dapto.

While the challenge was not purely a challenge to tithe financially, it is encouraging to note that there was a consistent increase in giving of around $500 per week during July and August.  Clearly some people have taken up the financial challenge. Others have worked through the challenge in the ways that they use their time and other things that God has so generously given them.

If you have not already taken up the challenge

I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you might be better able to use all that God has given you to extend His kingdom both here in Dapto and beyond.

DAC WEEKEND GETAWAY

Jumping pillow - an activity for all ages

Last weekend 17th to 19th September, DAC goers from all services met at Lake Tabourie for a weekend getaway.  86 adults and 74 children were involved and kids (of all ages) had lots of fun on the Jumping Pillow as well as fishing, swimming, mini golf, tennis etc. The weather was great the majority of the weekend (for those staying in cabins); campers had a few more challenges, with some brisk winds to deal with.

Over 150 of us at Lake Tabourie

The weekend provided a valuable opportunity to relax and spend time with each other while being able to reflect on the significance of Romans 5.  We were very lucky that Ben Boardman, Assistant Minister from Engadine Anglican Church (and former DAC goer) accepted the offer to lead ministry sessions on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Ben was warm and engaging with his message, though firm in reinforcing the importance of Justification, Grace and Hope. Paula and Jason McPhail provided reflections on their recent experience which also helped to reinforce Ben’s message.

Congratulations to “Big Red Frog” – winners of the Team Trivia Challenge held on Saturday Night, and thanks again to Kathy Quick who planned this fun event. The DAC Member Trivia Category proved to be truly insightful!

Jason and Paula

Thanks also to all others involved in supporting activities for the weekend. Overall a very positive experience was had by all and there are lots of people looking forward to the next one!

If you have any suggestions or feedback for next time, do see one of the committee.
