The World is Watching
In the aftermath of the New Zealand earthquakes many pictures of devastation have emerged. Media outlets regularly include pictures of broken ‘churches’. It was encouraging to see pictures in the Southern Cross of one Christchurch Church in action. The pictures showed members helping people to safety.
- There is no doubt people are watching God’s people.
- Once you are ‘known’ as a Christian, your neighbours, work mates and friends, are constantly watching your actions and listening to your words.
- They watch you drive out on a Sunday morning.
- They listen to how you respond to challenges and problems.
- Most of them know, that Christians are supposed to love God and love their neighbours.
- They watch to see whether we actually do it.
- They are evaluating whether our faith in Christ makes a difference.
- Is it real??
Today, church is about what we are known for in the community. The crucial question, ‘Is love a way of life for us?’
