Kaitlyn Dixon is our Children’s Ministry Intern supporting Holy-wood Children’s program, working 1 day a week.  Kaitlyn is using this gap year to save some money for a car, and see where God wants her to be. 2012 may see her studying at Youthworks, but Kaitlyn is very open to see where God will use her in the future.

So, what’s involved as an Intern?
I teach scripture, assist Amy with visitation, brain storm big ideas with Mary, complete computer work, programming, advertising, organise/prepare crafts, help with registrations, lesson preparation, and coordinate Children’s Ministry on DAC Online. I really like helping Mary, learning from her and working with our children and our church families, sharing Jesus. I am so enjoying this job!

Kaitlyn, what else do you do with your week?
St. Luke’s Preschool has me one day per week. Playing with the children is lots of fun and building links between our church and the Preschool families.  I also work as a nanny for a family, 1/2 days depending on their need, assist at Mobstars and Sondaze, and then there is 5pm & 7.15pm Service on Sundays.

Tell us a little about yourself?
We moved to Dapto when I was 4 and attended DAC ever since. I was 6 when I chose to give my life to Jesus. It was at a Carol service, and Mum came with me, to help & support me.  My relationship with Jesus continues to grow and develop. My parents are an awesome example as people who love and follow Jesus. They and DAC have helped nurture my faith in God. As I’ve grown, I’ve taken on leadership roles at Children’s Ministry starting in Year 9 – that’s 5 years now! One of the things I like best about DAC is how mission focused we are seeing God at work both here in Dapto and further afield with our link missionaries. I especially love how we reach out to children and youth of our community.

Special Memories?
The day I committed my life to Jesus was really special. My brother Laz’s birth, seeing my parents deal with all the uncertainties and difficulties involved with his birth and health, yet trusting in Jesus every step of the way. Youth Camps, they are all special but two particularly, one because there was an awesome water fight (I think 2007) and in 2010 seeing youth come to Jesus and be baptised.  Going to Europe last year with my family, seeing new places and people.

What would you like to see God do in Dapto?
I want to see whole families come to know Jesus.  Having  Mum, Dad and all the kids come along to church and become part of our church family.
