In Ephesians 5:18-33 we are given the secret of redeeming our self-serving marriages in the power of the Holy Spirit and in light of the gospel. The secret is mutual fulfilment through mutual sacrifice. The result is two people as friends and lovers who are helping each other on their journey of living for the purposes of God.
