Happy Father’s Day!

Isn’t it a great thing that we celebrate fatherhood! It is an enormous privilege and responsibility to be a dad, and we dads, need to make sure we are helping each other out in thinking about this important role.
I wonder if I can point out two things from my reading of Ephesians 5:21-6:4?

• The first is this; Dads, love your kid’s mum (Eph 5:25).  Our children watch our every word and action. Our boys are learning from us how we are to treat women.  Our daughters are learning from us how they should be expected to be treated by their future husband. Dads, can I plead with you to ensure that you love your children’s mother!

• The second is; To ensure that we are not frustrating our children (Eph 6:4).  We are to be consistent.  We are to be on the same parenting team as their mum.  We are to restrain our anger, and show gentleness.

What an honour to love our children’s mum, and what a privilege to raise our children in the Lord!
