Wicked… the untold story of Delilah

‘Wicked… the untold story of Delilah’, written by Elise Semenchuk and presented by the youth of Dapto Anglican Church. WOW! I know almost 400 of you came along and saw this fantastic presentation by our youth. For those who missed out, here is a little about Delilah.
“The story about Delilah. Maybe she was poor. Maybe she was smart. Maybe she was beautiful. Maybe she was desperate, heartbroken or sad. Or perhaps she was none of these things at all. Does it really matter? I don’t think I ever brought about the death of a man. But I know there are lots of other things that I have done, just like Delilah, that you might call…..WICKED.”
Authenticity!
Deep down we crave truth. We desperately want to base our lives on things we can trust. Our decisions reflect our values and beliefs and our appreciation of what is real and important.
As we evaluate the ideas and claims on our allegiance, one of the main criteria is; ‘Does it work?’
‘Do these set of beliefs reflect reality?’
‘Does this set of beliefs make a difference to me or in the lives of others?’
As we embark on our journey through Paul’s book to the Ephesians these are our important questions. We want to live authentic lives which are based on truth, respond to truth and reveal truth. Theology must affect our practices not just our preaching.
In the end, Paul’s intention in writing an ‘epistle’ (letter) is that the content of his letter would so transform our lives that we become living letters to those around us. People who need to know Christ, are most likely to meet Him in us long before they meet Him in the pages of Ephesians.
Stephen Semenchuk,
Senior Pastor.

Patchwork and Papercraft Show
Each year the Patchwork and Papercraft Group, have a show to display the crafts they have been working on over the past year. We use the show as an opportunity to invite the community to come along, not only to view the beautiful work, but as an invitation to join the group and to attend other events held at church. We displayed more than 60 quilts and our youngest quilter was 8 year old Kate Robinson, who made her first quilt. Well done Kate.
As an experiment, this year we held our show over two days, which proved to be our most successful yet. We had a Trade Table on which all items were hand made by the ladies and many visitors took the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. The Papercraft group held workshops over both days where people made beautiful cards to take home with them.
All monies raised at the show is used for our ‘Women’s Ministries’ enabling us to reach more women, introducing them to the gospel, and ultimately to God’s Kingdom, which is our main focus. We now have a Growth Group, with 7 ladies from the Patchwork and Papercraft group, most are new Christians and we praise God for their sisterhood.
This year we were able to showcase our new church building and our Cafe, which was kept extremely busy during these two days. Thankyou so much to Jill & her volunteers for their hard work and opening on Saturday.

God has blessed our group with wonderful hard working women, who are just the best team to work with and many thanks must go to Allan Mackey, David Masters and John Eagleton who made our lovely new quilt stands, making our display look sensational.
We thank our Lord Jesus for the many blessings he has showered our group with and pray that new women will continue to join us in His name.
Thankyou, our church family, for you support and your prayers.

Wendy Eagleton,

How is your family going?
The language of family is enormously prominent throughout the whole Bible. We are to think of God as our Father in whom we find our self-understanding and worth. In Jesus Christ we have received the Spirit of Sonship by which we call upon God personally and intimately.
For some people, their experience of earthly family is marred and too painful to think about. Yet God’s loving purpose is to swallow up pain and hurt and even death itself in the victory of the full revelation of His eternal Fatherhood.
So the Apostle Paul prays in this way:
I kneel before the Father, from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. (Eph 3:14-15)
The full implication of this is not only found in our relationship with God as Father but in our relationships with each other as family.
How is your church family going?
How are you going as a family member?
We all know in theory that love and honour are to characterise our relationships but in 1 Tim 5:1-3 the Apostle Paul sharpens our thinking. We are to consider how we love and honour in particular ways as we think and behave towards those around us who are older or younger, who are male or female, or who are in some special need. That is, we need to move from love in theory to love in particular relational action.
What characterises your relationships at the moment with those in your church family?
Scott Goode,
Assistant Pastor.
