Youth Groups
God’s working amongst our Youth at DAC
Our Youth Groups started back last week and this term we are exploring the idea of ‘Who Is This Guy?’ We will be asking this question about Jesus, as we work our way through the Gospel of John.
The first night we learnt that Jesus is definitely a man worth following and that Jesus doesn’t just want people to make decisions to be followers of Him but rather people to become disciples of Him.
We gave our young people the opportunity to make this decision and change in their own lives. An incredible amount of young people either decided to become a disciple of Jesus for the first time and/or to sign up for our discipleship classes. In fact 24 youth made this decision! (Which meant a sleepless night for an excited Youth Minister!)
Be encouraged, like me, that our God is still drawing people to Himself and saving people to a lifetime with Him in and through our Church here in Dapto.
I want to thank my Church Family for being a church that supports youth ministry, giving people a place and an opportunity to come to know who Jesus is.
Praise God:
- For the youth that made this decision to enter God’s kingdom and for those that want to develop and grow as disciples of Jesus.
- That God’s Spirit be at work in our church and our young people’s lives.
Continue to pray:
- For our young people as they work hard at living out their faith everyday.
- For the leaders as they nurture these new disciples of Jesus.

Wicked… the untold story of Delilah

‘Wicked… the untold story of Delilah’, written by Elise Semenchuk and presented by the youth of Dapto Anglican Church. WOW! I know almost 400 of you came along and saw this fantastic presentation by our youth. For those who missed out, here is a little about Delilah.
“The story about Delilah. Maybe she was poor. Maybe she was smart. Maybe she was beautiful. Maybe she was desperate, heartbroken or sad. Or perhaps she was none of these things at all. Does it really matter? I don’t think I ever brought about the death of a man. But I know there are lots of other things that I have done, just like Delilah, that you might call…..WICKED.”
SWITCH – 2011 Youth Camp
Last week 110 people travelled to Galston for our Switch Youth Camp for 2011. In the history of Dapto Anglican Church this is the largest number of youth we have ever taken away. A record and so exciting to be a part of!
It was a great weekend spent talking about how our faith is not a religion but a relationship with GOD, how we needed to stop making excuses and stop living in fear of God. On Sunday morning we were reminded that we are GOD’S masterpiece, made for the master’s purpose. On Sunday morning 5 young people were baptised which was a great way to finish out our weekend.
In my 11 years experience of Youth Ministry I have never seen a youth camp that has unified a youth ministry like SWITCH. GOD did something special in our youth ministry last weekend and we saw many young people surrender their lives over to JESUS, some for the first time. PRAISE GOD.
Many thanks to our 7:15pm Congregation, they allowed us to come back and take over their service on Sunday. We hope you were encouraged by what you heard and saw of all the things GOD is doing in our young peoples lives.
Thanks to my Youth Leaders and the great cooks that worked hard all weekend and served the youth of our church, and thanks to our youth for an amazing and special weekend and last but not least a SPECIAL thankyou to all those who prayed for us over the weekend. Your prayers were answered.
If you are wondering how you can continue to support youth ministry after camp, you can:
- Pray for the young people who made commitments to follow JESUS, that they will grow into mature followers of JESUS.
- Pray we can continue the momentum from camp and live excited for JESUS wherever we go.
- Pray for protection over our young people as they live as salt and light in their schools and homes.
- Financially donate to Switch (its not too late). A number of young people couldn’t have attended SWITCH if it wasn’t for the financial support we receive from our church family each year.

High School Ministry
High School Lunchtime Groups:
Our high school ministry at Dapto & Kanahooka has been continuing this year with great fire and passion by the team. Lunchtime groups had a revamp at the start of first term and given a name. Lunchtime Groups are now called EPIC.
We have 3 main goals at EPIC.
Firstly, every Wednesday we want to be engaging our students with the good news of the Gospel of Christ.
Secondly, we aim to encourage our students to be changing their school community to be one that accepts people for who they are and that are not unaware of who Jesus is.
Thirdly, that we would create an environment at EPIC that is loving and caring.
This term EPIC has joined a global campaign called ‘Love Is Our Weapon’. This campaign encourages youth to be sharing the love of Jesus with their community by presenting them with a new ‘love deed’ or way to love people in their lives. Each week sees us challenging students at Kanahooka and Dapto High School to think about the gospel and who Jesus is to them. We then challenge them to love their friends and family and people in their schools.
1 John 4:19 says ‘We love because He first loved us…’ The whole of chapter 4 challenges us on Gods love. We aim to share this with the EPIC students.
Brekky Club:
We continue to meet another need at Dapto High School by supplying a free breakfast every Wednesday morning for students. This has been an excellent way to build relationships with students, particularly those who don’t attend EPIC or 350invasion Youth Groups. We have also been able to build relationships with the staff at school as well. The principal of DHS relayed to us, that some of his students only get breakfast on a Wednesday because of Breaky Club.
Practical ways you can help:
We are always grateful for donatations of powdered milk, popular breakfast cereals, or $ towards the Brekky Club groceries.
Thank you:
We want to thank our church family who support us in this ministry. I also want to thank my dedicated team, who give freely of their time for High School Ministry.
Please pray:
- For our local high schools & the ministry to the students & staff.
- For the great team God has raised up, that have a passion for these students & schools to know Jesus as Lord & Saviour.
- Financial, prayerful & physical assistance from our church family in this ministry.
