Update on the Chin family
Dear brothers and sisters,
We are now in the midst of the radiotherapy sessions aimed at reducing the size of the lesion in Bronwyn’s liver alone. Sadly it has caused her to be constantly nauseas and very tired. Furthermore her lung lesions have been left untreated and the pain seems much harder to alleviate, making sleep challenging. And yet her cheerfulness remains!
She keeps pointing me to 2 Corinthians 4:16-17:
” … Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all”.
Although it’s hard for us to watch Bronwyn get weaker, we are grateful that she is living evidence of this promise of God.
The conference in Fiji over Easter was postponed due to the devestating floods. So I was able to enjoy a restful break with Bron’s extended family in Wollongong. She couldn’t insist that I go! And our children have enjoyed their school and University holidays with friends.
On the afes front there have been some challenges to navigate but the regular news of students becoming Christians and lives being transformed by the Word of God gives me cause to rejoice. Preaching through 3 John enables me to appreciate with John: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth”.
Please thank God for
* renewing Bronwyn day by day despite her trials
* giving us a restful Easter together
* saving and transforming the lives of students on campus
Please pray that
* our Fijian brothers and sisters will recover well from the flooding
* Bronwyn’s health will match her soul – for her nausea and pain to alleviate, and full healing if it is God’s will
* we will conitnue to entrust ourselves to God our Father.

Holy-wood Camp 2012
‘I whip my flame back and forth
I whip my flame back and forth
I whip my flame back and forth
(whip sound)
Get out, get out, get out of sin
Fall into God’s arms instead
I don’t I don’t quite know what it is
But He’s got a big plan
We’re all winners!!’
This was Caleb Pearce’s song, which summed up our 3 days of Camp Holy-wood, to the ‘One Direction’ hit song ‘One Thing’.
The children were divided into three teams for the duration of our Camp. (Flame Throwers, Thunderbolts and Ravens).
For 3 short days; Wednesday 11th-Friday 13th April, 90 of us crashed in to Austinmer and collided with the Word of God! We were challenged by Elijah’s faith and saw how Jesus is the ultimate winner and calls us to be winners in life with Him.
We hit the beach, danced to Craig’s disco, watched movies, had a talent-filled talent show, prayed, slept, ate and made great friendships.
One little girl prayed to Jesus asking Him into her life.
We had the children identify how they are going with Jesus and they met in specific groups. In these groups they had their questions answered and they prayed to God. This for me was one of the many highlights of the 3 days.

Please pray:
- Praise God for our wonderful families who are doing a great job in raising their children in the knowledge and love of Christ.
- Thank God for our wonderful Children’s Ministry Team who came away with us.
- Ask God for the children to retain all they learned about being winners through Jesus; at home, in school and with friends.
Is it Insane to Believe in the Resurrection?
The New Atheism movement claims the scientific and rational highground when it comes to the person of Jesus and the Christian claim that he was resurrected. Yet is Christianity unreasonable and irrational? In this sermon we explore the historical arguments that underpin the Christian claim that Jesus rose from the dead – and having explored these, we understand that Jesus Christ makes claims upon us.

Next Challenges
During the last twelve months we have completed and moved into our new building, we have had almost one hundred new people join our services and groups and we have enjoyed the opening of our new Café!
What’s next?
People: As hundreds of new residents are moving into our area, we still have room for at least 200 more people in our regular services. We need to provide an open door and a clear path for people to keep joining us.
Building: We must now step up our building repayments! The new building is a great blessing but we must meet our repayment commitments. The amount originally pledged was $14,000 per month but currently we regularly only receive half that amount. We need an injection of $150,000 to our building fund between now and June 30th to remove our bridging loan and set up our repayment schedule. We know some people’s financial positions has changed since pledges were made, therefore we implore others to step up and help us decrease this ongoing burden.
Equipment: We have a great opportunity to renew temperamental and struggling equipment! The State Government has offered us a dollar for dollar grant to replace our Café cake display fridge and the Café freezer. [We only need $2,435 to be able to get this new equipment.]
Now is the time to step up and meet these challenges. God is blessing us with great opportunities. [Over 600 people joined us at Easter at the Lake, while Good Friday Service numbers were our highest ever.] God is currently choosing to grow His kingdom in our midst and we should respond by meeting these challenges as soon as possible.
