Relationship Goals

Once again, Taylor Swift is taking the world by storm. Swift has wrapped up her very successful tour around the USA and is soon to take it to the world, including Australia. There is no denying the star power of Swift and the gravity she has, dominating music charts and sending stadiums full of fans into a frenzy.

But people have stopped talking about her tour and are now deeply invested in another area of Swift’s life: her relationship status with American Football player Travis Kelce.

It has been a fascinating week as this potential relationship has swept over two massive fan bases, Taylor Swift and NFL supporters. “Swifties” are working out who Kelce is, and as a result, his Instagram followers and Jersey sales have grown massively. So much so that people are asking if people knew of Kelce before Swift started dating him. To which I would say yes, he is a two-time Superbowl champion!

There always seems to be a buzz around celebrity relationships. Who is with whom, who just broke up and what is happening? We can become invested in their relationships, hoping for the best for them.

When you have two people as famous as Swift and Kelce, people are invested in them, which is fair enough. But there is one who is more popular and wants to be in a relationship with you.

At youth group this term, we looked at who God is, his character, and how he calls us to know him as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The God who created the universe, as well as you and me, what’s to be in relationship with you. Isaiah 40 is a great chapter to provide comfort for us. It talks of God measuring the waters in the hollow of his hands, how nothing is worth comparing to him, and that he knows us. He gives strength to the weary and will renew their strength.

Spend some time investing in your relationship with God this week; he is much bigger than Swift and Kelce, and he knows you!
